Maybe Michelle should give up a piece of her pie

The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.
“No-one knows who I am,” he told the magazine, before claiming: “I live here on less than a dollar a month.”
“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”
See, it’s things like this that make me think that democrats don’t really care. They are quick to take other’s money to give to total strangers and win votes, but when it comes to their own…..
Michelle, the truth is, in order to get things like a house that isn’t a 2mX3m shack and more than $1 a month, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.
Lower the drinking age?

First let me say that I don’t drink*. At. All.
And I abhor drunkenness.
Some college presidents want the age lowered from 21 to 18.
“This is a law that is routinely evaded,” said John McCardell, former president of Middlebury College in Vermont who started the organization. “It is a law that the people at whom it is directed believe is unjust and unfair and discriminatory.”
I disagree with the “they’re going to do it anyway” argument, since what people do isn’t a very good indicator of what is right or good, and what kids think of the law is pretty irrelevant to me. I’m sure thieves think the laws against stealing or embezzling are unjust, unfair, and discriminatory. Doesn’t mean they should be gotten rid of or changed.
However, does it make any sense that at the age of 18 one can enter into marriage, sign up to risk their lives in a commitment to the armed forces , vote for the most powerful leader in the world, and inhale smoke; yet can’t go buy a beer and drink it? If a person is too immature to decide to drink then I would think they would be too immature to make other long lasting decisions about their lives.
I know a few kids that are in the the too young to drink but old enough to fire a gun for the army range that I think are too immature to babysit a common goldfish. But at some point we have to consider them capable of adult decisions. What is that age?
If it’s 18, then fine, buy a beer, vote, get married, turn your lungs black, and go kill a terrorist. If it isn’t, then it should be raised for all those decisions until a person has the mental capacity of an adult.

Russians were told over breakfast yesterday what really happened in Georgia: the conflict in South Ossetia was part of a plot by Dick Cheney, the Vice-President, to stop Barack Obama being elected president of the United States.
That’s right it’s Dick Cheney’s fault that Russia flew fighter jets into Georgian airspace and it’s also his fault that Russia sent forces into Georgia.
When Cheney speaks, Russia listens.
So embarrassing…

$17 BILLION! That’s(approximately) last year’s AIDS/HIV domestic budget.
President Bush just signed a bill that pledges $48 BILLION. Not only that, it allows those infected with AIDS/HIV to immigrate. Why would this be a good idea? Shouldn’t we be trying to keep diseases out? Why allow people to immigrate that will cost the tax payer a huge amount of money?
Congressional support for lifting the travel ban was bipartisan and strong, but not unanimous. Leading the opposition was U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith of San Antonio, the top Republican in the House Judiciary Committee. He sent a missive to his colleagues titled “The bill threatens the health and lives of Americans.”
The e-mail cited the CBO’s April report predicting that revoking the travel ban would allow an estimated 4,300 immigrants with HIV to enter the country in 2013, increasing to 5,600 by 2018. Smith’s message left out the report’s estimate of the public cost of treating these immigrants and their children between 2010 and 2018: $83 million.
Since when are American workers responsible for the medical needs of the world? Our government should be looking out for the best interests of it’s citizens first. AIDS/HIV is certainly a sad and tragic thing, but our government shouldn’t force an added burden on the tax payers. If it is something you personally feel strongly about and want to see programs to help those suffering I’m sure there are plenty of charities you can contribute to.
We already have enough of an AIDS problem to deal with without adding more to it. The infection rate is higher than previously thought.
“Results indicate that approximately 56,300 new HIV infections occurred in the United States in 2006,” the CDC said in a statement.
“This figure is roughly 40 percent higher than CDC’s former estimate of 40,000 infections per year, which was based on limited data and less precise methods.”
So HIV is spreading faster than we thought and the geniuses in Washington think it would be a good idea to import more. Great.
I know, I know. Just give prevention programs more funding. Cause, those of us in the US don’t really know how HIV is spread. We area all ignorant. Yeah, right. Who doesn’t know how this disease is spread by the time they graduate from highschool? More money can’t force people to make responsible decisions. And I don’t think it will help at all to add in immigrants that may bring with them dangerous cultural practices that could increase the spread of AIDS within the United States.
It’s not like we are desperate for people to come here.
Pray for rain.

Focus on the Family Action pulled a video from its Web site today that asked people to pray for “rain of biblical proportions” during Barack Obama’s Aug. 28 appearance at Invesco Field at Mile High to accept the Democratic nomination for president.
I think this is a great idea and can’t imagine why it would need to be taken down. Hmmm, well, rain of biblical proportions does mean flooding and that wouldn’t be good. How about praying for a power failure? Anyone want to join me?
