You know, its really nice to see the Washington Post continue its fine tradition of being an impartial voice around election time. Oh sure, their constant barrage of articles denouncing whomever the GOP candidate is for whatever office(s) is up for grabs might make you believe they’re in the tank for the Democrats, but clearly you’re just a moron. I am sure they’ll take a breather from their non-stop Bob McDonnell hate-fest to inform their ever-dwindling audience that Democrat candidate for Governor Creigh Deeds is awfully intolerant:
With all of their reporters digging through McDonnell’s past comments, the Post seems to have overlooked comments made by McDonnell’s Democratic opponent, Creigh Deeds–only ten, not twenty years ago–that might shock the sensibilities of socially liberal Northern Virginians. Here’s a full-page Creigh Deeds campaign ad from the October 29, 1999 issue of the Bath County Recorder:
NO SPECIAL RIGHTS FOR GAYS
I don’t believe in discrimination, but I don’t believe in special rights for anyone. I have never voted to allow gay partners to receive medical insurance — or any other benefit — from the state. It’s sad that Mr. Collins has to resort to bigotry and hate-mongering.
I looked on Deeds’ campaign website for information on where he currently stands on this issue, but none was to be found. So, I’m left to assume he’s a homophobe. In my search I did uncover an interesting article from the Post, back before they began their anti-Bob McDonnell campaign. Hmmm:
Those votes have included support for a family life program in schools that would define abstinence before marriage and fidelity within marriage as “moral obligations and not matters of personal opinion or personal choice,” a mandate that the words “In God We Trust” be displayed prominently in every school and a bill to increase the penalty for killing a fetus.
Deeds voted to designate English as the official language of Virginia, to make illegal immigrants ineligible for state or local benefits, and against a bill to allow illegal immigrants to pay in-state college tuition rates. He voted to void contracts between members of the same sex that would have provided rights associated with marriage, such as hospital visits, and voted against adding sexual orientation to a list of hate crime categories.
Wow, I see a lot there that would appeal to socially liberal Northern Virginia residents. In fact, I think he’s to the right of Taliban Bob on some of those things! But shhhh, Creigh’s no extremist…he’s got the big “D” next to his name, so he can’t be.
Oh, from the same article, there is a fellow Democrat commending Creigh for being willing to change his mind on the issues. Are you following me with this? Republican Bob McDonnell isn’t capable of changing his mind in the twenty years since he wrote his dastardly thesis, but Democrat Creigh Deeds can change his mind on issues that he voted on just in the last several years. Those votes actually affected people’s lives. Quit unlike, for example, a college thesis.

Nice finds…may I steal these for my blog?
I doubt our political perspectives are same or even similar, but we both have an axe to grind with the Democrats.

Steal away, by all means.
