“The discussion page of free thinking individuals…” has certainly seen better days. Blog posts that engage in petty name-calling. What a great way to foster dialogue, you know? And the uncalled for, personal attacks against commenters? Disagree with a contributor there and you might be immediately labeled an ‘ignorant fool’…or something far worse.
Funny how those who profess to be tolerant, ‘free thinking’ types are usually anything but.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but what you’re referring to Lowell was some of the nastiest stuff directed at a commenter I’ve read on any blog. And for no reason, too. You’ve said you want productive discussion and dialog, but it’s hard to do that when harangues like that are unleashed, or others are referred to as “ignorant fools” simply for disagreeing.

I don’t disagree anon, and it is definitely a challenge for people to carry on a conversation in such circumstances. This is one reason I really enjoy some of the conversations on Facebook. Folks are far more civil and seldom ever anonymous. (Which might explain the greater civility)
I’m really just getting tired of all the fussing and fighting.

Can I ask why they asked you to reopen the blog? So they could catch more fascinating posts like “Here is what Fascist, Monopolistic Republicanism Gets you…,”? You’d I’m sure be the first to say you’re judged by the company you keep, and I’m surprised you let a lot of that stuff slide.
