Big thanks to Deb, Joe, Emmy and Lowell. Your stereotyping and closed mindedness was spectacular indeed.
Maybe you haven’t noticed, so I’ll point it out for you, that Quite a few of us aren’t too thrilled with the opportunity to vote for McCain. There are some things about him that I don’t like and if you have read the thread asking people why the support McCain you will have noticed that it isn’t the strongest support and others feel lukewarm about voting for him also. There are also things about Obama I don’t care for. And yes I do make fun of him. He provides so much good material.
Two years ago I was going to vote for Allen and vote Yes for marriage. I was pretty sure of it. I ended up voting Web and No. That wouldn’t have happened, if people had behaved the way you all have the last few days. (I think those sentences will earn me a name calling session from HRR. Fire away.
)
I’m sorry to hear that you all plan to quit blogging and will be shutting down Rocdem as that is the only logical thing to conclude since you see no point in conversing with people who you think have their minds made up. I however will continue since I know some people are reasonable and capable of change when faced with reason and facts.
Maybe your minds never change unless the party tells you to, but that isn’t the way it is with everyone.
I’m fed up with the lot of you.

Megan [removed for being inaccurate]. You have chosen the tone of this blog not us. We expressed why we were fed up and you ignored that. I’m sure there will be someone out there who will seek you out and attempt to change your mind about this election. It won’t be me though. I’d love to sit down and tell you all the reasons why I think Obama is a good pick. But, knowing the bit I know about you, he does not mesh with your beliefs and so you probably shouldn’t go against everything you believe. I just have no desire to be stalked around a blog and called names.
My mind can be changed. I used to think McCain would be a good choice.
Good luck with your blog. I hope it does very well.
But, knowing the bit I know about you, he does not mesh with your beliefs and so you probably shouldn’t go against everything you believe.
I’m surprised he meshes with yours. I thought you didn’t like racists. I really don’t understand what you all see in him.
I’d love to sit down and tell you all the reasons why I think Obama is a good pick.
I’m sure you would love to. It shows. Except not really.
Please refrain from commenting again. I don’t like the tone you set.
Ha you’ll censor me. That’s rich. No worries, I won’t be back.
So, we, the liberals who never ever ever censor anything, want you to censor people, or we will take our idiotic ideas–that cannot compete in an open forum–elsewhere if you don’t censor those with whom we disagree. Does that about cover it, Emmy?
[voice over by Arnold Swartzenegger]: “I’ll not be baaaaaack!”
Can I just say, for the record once again, how patently absurd this all is? WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL? I can’t for the life of me understand why those who are passionate about their beliefs refuse to even discuss them WHEN IT COMES TO THE CANDIDATE THEY’RE VOTING FOR, all because minds are supposedly made up and the “tone” isn’t appropriate? They have no problem discussing race, or discussing energy, or talking about the myriad of other issues with folks that they know disagree with them. So why, when the opportunity is given to do the same for their Presidential candidate, do they suddenly shy away from it? Did they not face attacks on the other stuff?
It makes no sense, at all…and, again, its incredibly disappointing to see folks that have well thought out ideas and love to articulate them refuse to do so because, suddenly, they’re hesitant of the audience they have? What gives?
Whackette, I gotta ask…when you posted that thread did you ever think it would turn out like THIS???
“Two years ago I was going to vote for Allen and vote Yes for marriage. I was pretty sure of it. NO WAY, I LOVE OPEN-MINDED PEOPLE. THAT’S WHY I’M HERE, TO HELP COUNTER DEMOCRAT LIES.
“I’m sorry to hear that you all plan to quit blogging and will be shutting down Rocdem as that is the only logical thing to conclude since you see no point in conversing with people who you think have their minds made up.”
WHACKETTE DESTROYED THEM HERE. THEY DON’T MIND CLOSED MINDS, LIKE THEIRS, THEY JUST MIND THOSE WHO DISAGREE WITH THEM.
No, RF, I was surprised by what happened. Especially given the fact that only a day or two before Emmy said she would tell anyone who would listen. I didn’t think it would be a big deal and some of us genuinely wanted to know. I think it may be safe to assume that they have no real reasons, otherwise they would have said so and not wasted so much time complaining.
I’m not happy about McCain. But I see no reason to vote for Obama when his own supporters can’t even tell me what they admire about him.
Thats the thing. I know there are some people struggling with McCain as the GOP nominee…why not try your best to flip those people over to your guy? They have to know that enthusiasm for the man is lacking, to say the least. But no, we’re the close minded ones…
And I agree…maybe they don’t have good, solid reasons for supporting him. Maybe they just got caught up in the cult of personality and the Messianic rhetoric and don’t really have much to say otherwise. What it boils down to, I think, is that they’re voting for him based on sound bites, slogans, and the good feeling all that gives them. They talk a good talk about wanting to focus on issues, but when given the opportunity NONE bothered to.
Disappointing…
