The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.

“No-one knows who I am,” he told the magazine, before claiming: “I live here on less than a dollar a month.”

“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.

See, it’s things like this that make me think that democrats don’t really care. They are quick to take other’s money to give to total strangers and win votes, but when it comes to their own…..

Michelle, the truth is, in order to get things like a house that isn’t a 2mX3m shack and more than $1 a month, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.

  1. Sigh. Obama’s father fathered quite a few children after he split from his mother. He has half siblings all over the place. Is it his responsibility to take care of all of them? Where were they when he was broke?

I share DNA with my father, he’s broke, but I don’t feel the least bit of responsibility or desire to help him. He made his own bed. So yeah, us Democrats don’t care I guess.

  2. I feel the same way about the government forcing me to pay for what others want.

  3. Yawn. You’d feel differently if all that stopped.

  4. What makes you think that?

If you feel no responsibility to help your own father and Obama has no responsibility to help his own family, then why should HRR be responsible to pay for my doctor bills?

Emmy, until you actually feel the Government taking a large bite out of your paycheck, you will probably always remain in favor of higher taxes, and more government spending. Imagine stroking a check to the Fed for $75,000. Imagine you just had a great year, made more money than you ever had in your life, and ever will again. You want that money. You earned it. But the Fed takes it instead. And the Fed spends it on somebody else’s family. Who didn’t work hard, who didn’t earn it. Some of them are even creeps, like your father. You don’t WANT them to get the money. If you try really hard, you might see what it is like to be a conservative, for a little while.

Now, if you never study hard, give up current earnings for going to college and graduate school, you might always think, “Hey, rich people owe me a living, and health insurance, and food stamps, and roads.” The majority seem to think that way now. At least you’ll fit right in.

Thank you HRR. I wish people would understand I am also sick of losing much of my profit to people would refuse to pull their load. It makes me look bad I guess but I don’t care. I work damn hard trying to help people who need some important info and driving over 1200 miles a week to do it doesn’t bother me as much as knowing if I work harder, Obama and the Dems want to make me pay for making a better life for myself and my family.

But HEY, they have the MESSIAH !

AND…when the hell do I get my Democrat vacation just like the 5 WEEK one they are taking now?

Get back to work and sign an energy bill for the Love of GOD !

  8. Well perhaps if things like healthcare were affordable to the average person then I’d be more inclined to tell everyone to take care of themselves. Until then, I really don’t mind money coming out of my paycheck to help pay the doctor bills of some kid whose parents make just enough to get by. I don’t mind helping educate the future of our country. I just don’t mind.

I say I don’t care to help my father out of his mess, but I already do. I’m sure I pay for some of the medical care he gets and the fact that he doesn’t work.

Perhaps if I made six figures and the chunk was much larger I’d feel differently, but then I think I’d be giving more voluntarily too so maybe I wouldn’t. Who knows. I’m sure the money that comes out of my check goes to losers like my dad and that sucks. But it goes to help people who are trying damn hard to get ahead too and that’s a fair enough trade. No matter what the system, the crummiest will find a way to work it. But I won’t turn my back on others for the stupid mistakes of a few.

I’m a single mom with a little college, but no degree. I could milk it for all its worth if I wanted too. I could take all the child support from my ex I’m entitled too, I could have made him sell his house and live in poverty. While I was at it, I could have quit my own job and signed up for public assistance. I’ve met people who have done all of that. I’ve also met a lot of people like me who haven’t. I pay for my insurance and my ex pays for insurance on the kids. I do take advantage of public education and I did receive government money for some of my schooling. I’m the eternal optimist and I look for the good in everyone. I think more are good than not and more pull their weight than not.

But, I don’t think Obama should be held accountable for his brother and painted as some sort of jerk for not helping him, when in reality we have no way of knowing what he has or has not done for his siblings.

Everyone can look at how I treat my father now and say I’m heartless when they have no idea how much time and energy I spent trying to help a man that will not be helped. There are plenty of things that conservatives can look at in Obama and says he’s bad for the country. I’d rather they go after him on those things instead of this kind of thing.

I for one am done with it. Obama is my candidate and I will tell anyone who wants to hear why they should vote for him. I won’t participate in any smearing of McCain any longer. There are plenty of things about McCain that could make him a good leader. If he wins, I’ll support him. I’d love it if people spent more time telling me why I should vote for their candidate and less time talking about the guy they don’t like.

Fire away, please tell me why I should vote for him.

  10. Right Field says:

    I wouldn’t mind hearing that, either…
