uuuuhhhhhh…..how about I just admit that I’m a dumbo….will that work?
I believe that the entire premise of such questions is false: Most can get the “correct” answers if they have been taught something within the past year. Knowing the answers to what 5th graders were taught does not make one “as smart as” a 5th grader, it makes one a lot more smart than they are. I’ve forgotten soooo much useless knowledge that it is scary. But if it is forgotten, chances are the knowledge wasn’t useful in the first place. The most important information to learn, I submit, is the ability to FIND the answers of which we are unsure, and the ability (and humility) to admit when we don’t know the answer.
So, ask me something important?
You are exactly right.
Unless we have a use for this information, or just love the topic, it isn’t going to be a priority to remember.
I agree; it’s much more important to know how to find the answers when you need them.
