As SWACgirl reported on June 7, and again on June 9, (there must have been a shortage of plants to take pictures of that week, thus the need for posting it twice) Kurt Michael resigned his position as chairman of the Augusta County Republican Committee. This happened a week later than he originally pledged to resign, but, hey, better late than never. I’m real proud of him.
Now Kurt is set to choose a new chairman tomorrow (June 26). OK, so it will technically be the committee that gets to pick, but since Kurt had the privilege of selecting who would be allowed on the committee… Could this situation stink any higher?
RightsideVA has an excellent post up with an even better comment (the one right after kwise). Really, go read it. He says all the things I wanted to and then some, so I see no reason to repeat it all. Just go read it. It makes it pretty clear that Kurt Michael and his accomplices don’t give an rat’s rear end about unity.
A big gold star goes out to Chris Green. Chris, I still think you’re pretty SWACy but you sure stepped up to the plate on this one.
I really wonder why the RPV is letting this happen. There is a presidential election this fall, Virginia is turning blue and we need every conservative vote we can get and they’re letting a conservative stronghold turn into an embarrassing spectacle. For the good of the party of course.

It has been a long and changing road to get to where the local party is now. It by no means ever had to take the course it did but everything happens for a reason.
The new leadership at RPV has stepped up and is interested as to what is going on and is getting more involved rather then dealing with the after effect.
Thanks for the link and the opportunity to get the “other side” of the official story out there which benefits and informs many who otherwise only get the “Press Release” version…
