Sadly, it is beginning to look like this year’s presidential race will be all about… well, race.

It looks like the Democrats are going to be making a bigger deal about than the Republicans. So far they seem to have their fingers on the trigger when it comes to calling someone racist or implying that race is a factor.

A few examples:

1. Awhile back Mitt Romney used the phrase tar baby.

“The best thing for me to do politically is stay away from the Big Dig — just get as far away from that tar baby as I possibly can,” he said in answer to a question from the audience.

Please note that when taken in context this has nothing, nada, zip, zero to do with race. Nevertheless, the left was outraged labeled him a racist and an apology was issued.

2. It is noticed that Obama and Curious George resemble each other. I know we have talked about this before, and Genvieve made some excellent points. But I still maintain that there is a huge amount of hypocrisy present when it acceptable to mock one man by comparing him to a monkey yet it is racist to do the same to another.

3. Republitarian posted a video of Glenn Beck and some other guy discussing some things said by Mrs. Obama. The liberals’ responses to this posting?

“Myron, you display your bigotry, and your ignorance, yet again…[blah blah blah]“

“Usually, this kind of conversation occurs between two drunk uninformed hillbillies in a dark room free of cameras - not on national TV.

Couldn’t they have just said, “shut up you uppity negro lady” and been done with it?”

And liberal tells a story is told about a man  helping an elephant and then latter being killed by an elephant. I’m not sure what that has to do with Mrs. Obama’s views being discussed, but I think this comment might be racist since it appears to be trying to compare people to animals.

I’m glad to see that the republicans over there aren’t rolling over and playing dead like Romney did. I’m not alone in thinking the race card is going to be played whenever any criticism or derogatory remarks are directed at the Obamas.

4. Tom Davis also said tar baby and sent NLS in to a tizzy, big letters an all. Again, not used in a racist way, but to describe a sticky situation.

“Remember,” Davis writes, “Hispanic voters are a swing group in this election and future elections. John McCain, being from a border state, may be out of sync with many Republicans but he has standing among Hispanics. Barrack Obama has not made the sale to Hispanic voters. Thus, this issue is a tar baby for anyone who touches it, with land mines everywhere.”

It’s going to be a long 26 weeks if every criticism, figure of speech, and political swipe is called racist. And I think it will be bad for the country.

Amen…I couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you for noticing the same thing I did on the Republitarian blog regarding the video from Glenn Beck. The only ones making any reference to the Obamas’ race were the liberals…and, when called on it, they respond with silence. Hmm…

  2. I think it is really sad that when somebody tells you they support Hillary, they go overboard explaining that it has nothing to do with Obamas skin color. Likewise, Obama supporters go on and on about how Hillary being a woman is not why they don’t support her. Its sad our nation has become that hypersensitive.

  3. Um……I’d say that a blogger that posts stuff like videos from VNN is showing his ignorance and bigotry?
    Wouldn’t you?
I have quite the archive of Myron Rhodes’ race-baiting. Shall I start rolling stuff out?
    Stand byyy yourrr maaaaaaaannnnn……

What’s that, kestrel? Guilt by marriage or relationship? Just because you think republitarian made some allegedly “race-baiting” comments, and whackette is married to him, somehow whackette is responsible? If so, the rest of your family are all a bunch of idiotic, un-patriotic, communist leaches on society, by virtue of being related to you. Sucks to be them.

P.S. Whackette, how do you find “home” on this child-proof blog of yerz?
