A new prayer book, with all male references removed, has been released by the Movement for Reform Judaism in Britain.

Only 1% of people think of God as female, with 62% considering God to be male, the online survey conducted earlier this month of 1,050 adults in Britain found.

It doesn’t say what the other 37% think God is. Nonexistent? No gender?

I’m trying to picture how this would work.

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise It, all creatures here below;
Praise It above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Adult Caretaker, Dependent Juvenile, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Blah. Just doesn’t have the same ring to it. I’ll keep my politically incorrect versions, thank you very much.

  1. Hey Whackette, check this out: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1652271/posts

    A couple years ago the Presbyterian USA church was forming a committee to pick some alternate designations for the trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit was apparently too male-centric). At the end of the article, the author writes:

    Early in Monday’s business session, the Presbyterian assembly sang a revised version of a familiar doxology, “Praise God from whom all blessings flow” that avoided male nouns and pronouns for God.
